The NYS AHPERD Capital Zone is excited to host the Elementary School Leadership Awards on May 12, 2025 beginning promptly at 7:00 pm (Student honorees must arrive by 6:30 pm) at Hudson Valley Community College.

 

To honor your students, you, the physical education teacher selects and notifies your recipients. Recipients are to be from the highest grade level at your school (up to 5th grade) *Please note, if your elementary schools are split into a lower (K-2) and a higher level (3-5), this award is only for students at the higher grade level.  You may nominate up to 10 students; however, please keep in mind that this is a very prestigious award. Only the most deserving of students should be nominated. We have updated our selection criteria.

 

Registration is $10 per student honoree.

Once again we are asking schools to have at least one teacher representative from their district present at the event. Please have the name(s) and email address(es) of the teacher(s) who will be attending when you complete the registration form. This person will help with student crowd management for their district as well as retrieving certificates/t-shirts of any absentee honorees at the conclusion of the event.

 

**NEW FOR THIS YEAR!

**We will not be doing the the ice rink procession therefore students will not be “held” in the ice rink to line up prior to the event. Students will be escorted to their assigned seat in the arena upon arrival. Please be sure to update your parent letter if you downloaded the letter prior to this update.

 

**We are requesting t-shirt sizes ahead of time. Shirts will be bagged according to the school name. One student will be designated to pick up the bag at the conclusion of the ceremony for distribution (teachers are more than welcome to assist with this process).

Reminder: Beginning in 2025 the Capital Zone will host two separate Student Leadership Award Ceremonies, one for Elementary School students and one for Middle School students.  Registration for the Middle School awards closed on February 13th.
